How to Uncover Your Money-Making Skillset

I talk to women all the time about starting an online business and one of the biggest hesitations I hear from them is that they feel like they don’t have the skills or experience to start.

And listen maybe you can relate – maybe you have thought like “it would be nice to start an online business or work for myself or” but I don’t even know what I would do or how to start and then you just never do ya know?

Well, what if I told you that there was a way for you to make money from home using the skills you already have?

What if I told you that there are people out there that are ready to pay you for what you have to offer like… yesterday.

I have some good news for you – it is possible and I know it’s possible because not only have I done it myself, but I have helped over 300 women do it too.

So lets back up a little bit – what exactly are skills? When I say “monetize the skills you already have” what does that actually mean?

Well as basic definition, skills are the abilities, knowledge, and talents you develop through learning and experience.

And there are really two different types of skills – there are hard skills and soft skills.

1. Hard skills (I think of these as like your training): These are specific, teachable abilities you can measure, like writing, coding, graphic design, or bookkeeping. These skills you have gained through education, training, or even just on-the-job experience. But they are more tangible than what soft skills are.

2. Soft skills (I think of these as your gifts): These are more about how you interact with others and handle your work, like communication, time management, problem-solving, or teamwork. Kinda like your people skills!

Some of these things you might have just been born with or are a part of your personality, but these things ALSO can be developed over time through life experience and personal growth.

Now I think there is a misconception that hard skills are more valuable than soft skills and I would argue that soft skills are actually more important AND more profitable.

IN FACT studies have shown that soft skills (like communication, problem-solving, and adaptability) are often the differentiators in career success, leadership, and business profitability.

For example:

LinkedIn's Workplace Learning Report (2023) found that 89% of recruiters say when a new hire doesn't work out, it’s often due to a lack of soft skills. This highlights the value employers place on soft skills over hard skills in the long term.

Deloitte's Global Human Capital Trends Report indicated that 92% of executives view soft skills as equally or more important than technical skills, particularly for leadership roles.

A study by Harvard Business Review showed that increasing customer retention by just 5% can lead to a profit increase of 25% to 95% AND Employees with strong interpersonal skills (aka soft skills) play a key role in maintaining these long-term customer relationships.

What this means for you is that who you are and how you develop yourself as a PERSON, is arguably more important than certification.

Now that isn’t to say that training isn’t valuable, because it is. But in this case, there are so many ways that you can start an online business literally today using what you have right now.
